Palm Beach Sailing Club
Club Pointscore 01 March 2008
Saturday morning training sessions were cancelled by Commodore Andrew when he checked the weather forecast earlier in the week. It was certainly a prudent decision as www.seabreeze.com.au was right on the money and the predicted 15+ SSE winds funnelled down Pittwater on Saturday morning, building as the day wore on. Eleven hardy souls rigged their boats and ventured out to the start line at 1.30. The wind was building and by the start was around 20kts with the more boisterous gusts getting up to the 30kt mark. Of the 11 starters there were only 6 left for the 2nd race due to capsize, broken gear and a faux pas by the start boat crew, raising the 'Abandon Race' flag in error - when they meant to raise the 'Change of Course' ( sorry Kyle! ) The remainder of the fleet completed the 2nd and 3rd races and everyone felt they had earned their refreshments back at the club.
