Forster WildCat Regatta - Sept 29 to October 1st 2007

Over 70 catamarans turned out at Forster for the largest multi hulled regatta on the East Coast.

The biggest contingent was reserved for the Hobie 16's with 25 Hobie 16's having their last hit-out prior to the Hobie 16 Worlds Titles starting on the 9th October.

The "Wild Cat" lived up to its name with the winds on Saturday and Monday hitting 30knots. James Ogilvy, who came 2nd at the State Titles, had a GPS on his Hobie Tiger that registered a boat speed of over 19knots.

The Palm Beach Sailing Club had a strong representation with four A Class, two Hobie Tigers and ten Hobie 16's.

The Club, on a high from the recent "Sailing Scene" State Titles, took out the top 5 Hobie 16 positions. Tim Shuwalo and Chris Munro won followed by Dave Fisher and Ainslie Gordon; Rod and Kerry Waterhouse; Jeremy Roberts and Bridget Waterhouse; and Jason Waterhouse and Michael McCormick.

The starts were hectic with both Rod and Jason Waterhouse collecting two "over early' penalties that pushed them down the finishing order.

The two youth teams helmed by Jeremy and Jason turned on impressive displays in a high profile "open" event, giving them both great experiences leading into the Hobie 16 Youth Worlds.
